A Little About Targeted Key Terms and Page Content
It is the job of a search engine to bring the searcher the targeted information he is looking for. Search engines look for the most targeted content they can find so that they can bring back the most useful search results to the searcher. This is why websites who provide targeted content do better in the rankings than those that do not.
To be able to write targeted content, you first need to ask yourself, "What are the main (key) phrases for which I'd like to be found by searchers?" Whatever those are, you need to have site content that is targeted to those words and phrases.
Ask yourself: what are the most likely phrases that people will type in to find what I sell/do? Make a list of these.
Site content should be created around these key terms. The more closely the content of a page is tied to a specific key phrase, the more desirable the page is to the search engines.
Example: Coin Collecting website
If you were to create a page for each of the key terms below, which would bring the most targeted results? Why?

Consider Long Tail (Niche) Key Terms
Long tail key phrases target less-competitive niche markets, rather than the hugely competitive broad keywords. If you can find "niche" key phrases for your page's content (highly searched but not much out there on the topic, or highly specific information that is valuable to a small but specialized group of searchers), all the better.
For example, if you do a Google search for the word "coin", roughly 86 000 000 (yes, million!) results come up. Yikes! It would be pretty hard for your site to rank on page one of Google for the search term "coin."
But - say your page is about the1969 double die penny. If you do a Google search for "1969 double die penny," only about 17 000 competing pages come up.
It would be significantly easier to rank highly for that term, especially if you make sure the content on your page is very spcifically about the 1969 double die penny, and you don't stray off into other areas of discussion.
